Goldsboro: A City Birthed Out of Revival!

goldsboro

Goldsboro around the time of “Great Revival of 1849.”

In our pursuit to break-open wide the well of revival in Goldsboro, God has revealed something very special about the city’s history. AMAZINGLY, the city of Goldsboro was birthed out of powerful 3 week revival meeting that ran night and day for 21 days.   Check this out:

September 1849: One year before Goldsboro became the county seat of Wayne County (1848), “The Great Revival” broke out right off the Neuse River during the fall of 1849. Nightly prayer meetings were held were St. Paul’s Methodist church now stands. At the time, there were only seven “profession Christians” in the entire city. Gripped by the fire of God, two unknown preachers came to Goldsboro with a Heavenly Assignment: “to revolutionize Christianity in Goldsboro…” and that is exactly what happened! Running night & day for three weeks the city of Goldsboro was invaded with powerful spiritual awakening that resulted in the birthing of four of the town’s major churches including: St. Stephen’s Episcopal, The First Presbyterian Church, St. Paul’s Methodist, and even the Jewish Synagogue. In addition to birthing 4 churches, this revival harvested over 100 souls into the Kingdom. Amazingly, the city of Goldsboro was birthed & shaped out of Powerful Revival!

Jesus Desires Unity Among the Carolina’s

god invasion 3

Pastor & Leaders Confrence. Gaffney, South Carolina.

Jesus desires Unity! In these days, God is wanting to occupy and posses the Carolinas! In this season, His strategy is do this city by city as in the days of Joshua and the days of Acts! In Joshua we see Israel possess the land by invading city after city with the ark of God resting upon their shoulders! In Acts we see the church possesses the land by invading city after city with the gospel message burning in their bones. Both accounts testify and reveal that God loves to break down dividing walls and throw entire cities into spiritual revival & awakenings. I believe this is God’s agenda for the Carolinas!

For too long the Carolinas have been divided. Birthed out of the pen of a king, the Carolinas existence was first written into affect by King Charles II in March 1663. Amazingly, both North and South Carolina were commonly known as the “Carolina’s” and were originally created to be ONE. However, in 1729, the Carolinas were split apart and divided into two colonies and have remained this way for centuries. Due to this split, it seems that an invisible wall has always existed between North and South Carolina, especially within the church. Unfortunately, this division has always kept ministries and movements isolated from one another. However, like the crossing of Jordan or coming out of the upper room, a new day has burst forth within the Carolinas. And the womb of revival that has been barren for way to long, is beginning to open wide!

I am overjoyed to report that these walls are coming down and coming down fast! This past weekend we were given an invitation to sow into South Carolina by sharing at a leaders conference in Gaffney, South Carolina.   Let me say, this meeting was explosive! God stirred my heart to release a message on how HE was awakening the bones of the Fire-Baptize Movement that shook South Carolina and the South during the late 1800’s.  After intense times of prayer and intercession and ministry among 300 pastors and leaders, you could feel walls crumbling and the burnings of God being ignited! C-MON! Even after the meetings had ended, pastors who had attended, reported that their churches on Sunday were exploding with fresh fire leading to many salvation’s! It was a wonderful time to connect with some awesome friends while meeting new pastors and leaders in South Carolina who share the same heart and vision for an awakening among our lands.  Unity is the sound that Jesus can not resist.  And it feels like His desire is to see complete unity among the Carolina bride.; so that we would not only become ONE, but that we would also storm the regions of the South with an unpresidented display of Kingdom Unity.  We are so thankful to God for allowing us to be a part of something so big!

Invading Cities & Regions with Prayer & Worship

Joshua 1:8 declares, “I will give you every place where you set your foot.”

We are living in a season where the Lord wants to personally invade our lives and the cities and regions we occupy. To invade literally means to “enter forcefully and inflict serious injury.” This speaks to me that God is eager to enter into our lives and cities and inflict serious damage to the enemy. C-MON!!! A major expression of this invasion seems to be coming through the unified cry for mobilized prayer & worship gatherings that run for consecutive hours at a time.   The Lord is also impressing on me that this invasion of our cities and regions will release an unprecedented display of His presence; resulting in city-wide transformation, unusual miracles, and a BOLDNESS & COURAGE to occupy entire cities with the gospel!  That certain cities which have been previously known for violence, murder, gang-activity, addiction problems, etc. would, after the invasion of Jesus, become known as cities of refuge, great peace, booming economies, and open heavens like Bethel or Jerusalem in the Bible. We are already beginning to see fruit of this in Wilmington, N.C.

Last summer in Wilmington, nearly every pastor and clergy member was contacted by city police and summoned to the Police department to meet with the Chief of Police. Discouraged and overwhelmed by massive increase of shootings and gang violence, the police expressed to us ministers, that they were helpless and needed help from the churches of Wilmington. It was so bad that one weekend witnessed over 18 shootings, some resulting in deaths.   This plea for help lead to a unifying effort to prayer walk the downtown streets of Wilmington. So on November 2, 2013, over 1,000 believers came together in downtown Wilmington to prayer march 1.8 miles of the city. Compelled by a heavenly synergy of different denominations, generations, and racial backgrounds all coming together, it was a breath-taking display of the church taking back their city. A people, who came together, and filled the streets with powerful cries of prayer & worship. WOW! Since that time, small prayer groups have been prayer walking Wilmington’s inner cities once a month picking-up trash and blessing the community.

This past Saturday, August 2, as we came together to prayer walk in the rain we were encouraged by leading city official and police Chaplin. He said, “I have not wore my bullet proof vest in months..” and he reported that crime for the last year has been at an all-time low in Wilmington. The Chief of Police has appeared several times on local news stations reporting his excitement of the drastic drop in crime and violence in Wilmington. One reported stated, “Ralph Evangelous, Wilmington Police Chief, stated a few weeks ago that downtown crime levels were hitting record low points. ‘The downtown is at historic, historic lows for crime right now,’ explained Evangelous.” ‘We have never seen levels this low’ he stated.” (http://apmobile.worldnow.com/story/24269035/mounted-patrol-officers-help-keep-crime-rates-low-in-downtown-wilmington)
Moreover, projects where prayer walkers have been invading, are witnessing great surges of peace, revival, and finical help. What is going on? God is speaking to us. He wants to  invade our cities, churches, communities, schools, campuses, and governments with unified attacks of prayer & worship and inflict as much damage on the enemy as possible.  It is a time to ADVANCE!

Ignite Goldsboro: A Call To Invade The Gateway City

theCallNashville_march

While seeking the Lord, the Holy Spirit began to speak to several of us about putting up the tent next in Goldsboro, North Carolina, sometime in the fall of 2014. After praying for confirmation, the Lord answered by opening up some amazing doors in this historic city. One of these doors came through an opportunity to speak at City Surrender 2014 conference hosted by Harvest Fellowship and Goldsboro House of Prayer. Seeking the Lord as to what to share, the Lord stirred my heart about the importance of closing evil gates in our cities that have been opened through critical events from our past. It was during this conference that God did something amazing!

Re-digging Goldsboro Wells of Revival.

In response to the word, several of us felt prompted by the Spirit to journey to the birthplace of C.B. Aycock which was located just outside of Goldsboro. Aycock, who was “educational governor” of North Carolina during the 1900’s, is famously known for his education reform ideals; however, what most do not know is that Aycock was a leading voice of “separate but equal” and is credited with pushing the legislation of segregation through every public school system in the south including universities, high schools, and even elementary schools. Many of us felt that his birthplace and where he went to school, served as an open gate of evil that shifted the entire mind-set of that generation.

To our surprise, the very next day, an article was published in local news which revealed that the president of Duke University was going to remove the name Aycock off its buildings due to his involvement with white supremacy movement in 1898. Ironically, the name has adorned over the buildings at Duke for over 100 years. The president said that were going to “restore the original names” back upon those buildings. The article also announced that ECU and UNC-Chapel Hill were also following Duke’s example. C-MON!!! This is a prophetic sign from heaven that God heard our prayers and closed that gate of Baal which had been opened over Goldsboro!

In response to these awakenings, we are going to launch Ignite Goldsboro on September 25, 2014, which happens to fall on the Feast of Trumpets. We feel that God wants to break down the walls of this city as he did in Jericho during the days of Joshua. In Joshua 6, the city of Jericho was the first city that had to be invaded in order to for Israel to occupy the rest of the land. The breaking down of its walls signaled the breaking down of every other walled city in that region. Like Jericho, Goldsboro is also a gateway type city into the rest of North Carolina and we believe a big key in seeing many other regions break-open with revival & awakening!

To accomplish this assignment, the Lord is stirring our hearts to go 24/7 for 7 days under the tent in the downtown portions of the city. Contending in the place of un-ending worship-intercession-outreach-and a city-wide love feast, we believe the tangible presence of God is going to break down every wall of division, break open old revival wells, and set the entire city of Goldsboro on fire with the flames of the gospel! So come and join us on September 25 @ 7:00 p.m. as we contend to turn the heart of a city back to the Lord.

Carolina Rumblings

Since Ignite Triton, there have been many rumblings in the Spirit all through the Tar Heel state. It seems for the first time in a long time, North Carolina is on the brink of a mighty move of God! There are three strategic meetings that just occurred however, I want to mention.

!3 Colonies Procession

1. The Original 13 Colony Prayer Journey: Dunn, N.C.
Birthed out of a powerful encounter during prayer, national prayer leaders Jon and Jolene Hammil of Washington D.C. and directors Lamplighter ministries received an assignment of the Lord to visit one city in each of the original 13 colonies during the month of July. The purpose was to open the east gate of the United States for the King of Glory to come in. After reading Fire in the Carolinas, the Hammil’s, along with Mary & Jeff Medford of Carolina Strategic Alliance, felt that Dunn was the city for this epic meeting to be held. On July 9, 2014, hundreds of intercessors and pastors from all over the state came to Dunn and worshiped and prayed together on the campus of Heritage Bible College. Out of this meeting, it was said that North Carolina would be known as a state of Revival & Refuge in the days to come. It was also said that the Lord had “re-lit the lamp stand of Dunn, N.C.” and that it would be connected with the other 12 states that the prayer processional would stop at. How amazing is it that God is connecting the old revival well of Dunn, N.C. to cities like Boston, Philadelphia, Fredericksburg, D.C. etc. believing it is an essential city in our state that will help break open the whole east cost for a might move of God!

2. State-Wide Prayer Meeting for Reinhard Bonnke Crusade: Durham, N.C.

Reinhard

On July 11, Durham N.C. hosted its second state-wide prayer meeting for pastors and leaders for the upcoming Reinhard Bonnke Crusade that will be held in Greensboro. Amazingly, an opportunity was giving for me to share on the Carolinas History of Revival and then help lead the gathering in intercession for the breaking open of old revival revivals. It was amazing! Prior to the service, organizers met in the back to pray and discuss the flow of service. Upon entry I was greeted by newly elected N.C. Senator Norman Sanderson and his lovely wife Linda. To my surprise, I had just met Linda Sanderson two days prior in Dunn at the 13 Colony Prayer meeting, where we talked and prayed together. I soon knew God was up to something! Senator Sanderson and Linda went on to open the prayer meeting and cried out for fresh move God’s Spirit to move upon North Carolina. Senator Sanderson also shared that there are more governmental officials praying in the state’s capitol then there has ever been in its history! C-MON!!! Carolina’s bones of Revival are coming alive, and now beginning to shake even the legislature of our government! This is amazing!

3. The N.C. Prayer Caucus: A Day of Repentance & Covenant Renewal

prayer cacus 7

On 7-14-14, just 3 days after the state-wide prayer meeting in Durham, the prayer caucus of North Carolina came together and meet at three different locations within the state. Being spearheaded by N.C. Senator Sanderson, his wife Linda, and many other leading intercessors, this prayer initiative served to make an appeal that the courts of heaven would align over the courts of North Carolina! Contending in the place of intercession out of II Chronicles 7:14, at 7:14 a.m., on 7-14-14, this prayer meeting was epic for our state! The first meeting took place at Salter Path, N.C. on the shores of the Atlantic, the east gate of our region. Following that morning prayer, the Senator and teams of worshipers drove to Raleigh where, they held a similar prayer meeting in the legislative building at the state capitol. Wow! Be on the lookout for major pro-Christian shifts coming to our state legislature. The prayer caucus concluded the evening by assembling on black mountain in the western part of the state at 7: 14 p.m. calling North Carolina back into covenant relationship with Jesus! C-MON!!! What a historic day for North Carolina! You know you’re in a good prayer meeting when it is being led by your state Senator(s) who, along with church leaders, are seeking to align the entire state with the heart of God for the release of Revival & Awakening. People of the Carolinas, be encouraged and do not grow weary in well doing. God is opening up the barren womb of North Carolina!

Ignite Triton: Birthing a Movement

IMG_5607

A few months ago the Lord opened up an amazing door for us at Triton High School just outside Dunn, North Carolina. After a series of confirming prayers, dreams and visions, the superintendent of Harnett County schools, along with some amazing staff members of the school, allowed us to erect a 500 men tent on the school’s band-field. “Ignite Triton” as it became known, was a collective gathering of over 25 young adult bands and speakers from all over the Carolinas. Prior to the event which began on May 15, 2014, I learned that national interest was already being stirred about this historic meeting. Amazingly, different ministries all around the nation and the world were interceding for Ignite Triton—that God would break-out on this public school’s campus. And He did!

Giving Jesus non-stop worship & adoration for 50 straight hours at a public school under a tent, we witnessed an explosion of God’s presence that seemed to fill the atmosphere with the fire of God. Hundreds of people were impacted. Young adults who had been struggling with drugs were saved. Others were set free from demonic strongholds, and numerous physical healings took place over those 50 hours. Heaven   had invaded earth that weekend, and the best thing about it was that this all transpired on the grounds of a high school. C-MON!!! If this doesn’t get you excited, I don’t know what will.

After Ignite Triton ended, the Lord spoke to us very clearly about what occurred there and where He wanted to take things. He revealed that Ignite Triton birthed a movement, and that it was going to bring unity, fire, glory, miracles, healings, salvations, deliverances, and city-wide transformation among the Carolinas, the South, and the nation. He also revealed that the tent symbolized the mantle for revival, and all who would come and seek God there would pick-up a revival mantle to carry back with them when they departed; thereby, igniting fresh fires of God’s love and passion everywhere there feet would touch.

Here are few pictures from the event:
